As I a kid, in the 80’s, I used to go door to door selling Malley’s chocolate bars in Lakewood, OH. I’ve of course had Malley’s chocolate since then, but it’s been some years since I’ve had it. I received these buckeyes as a gift and they are just….ok, I hate to say it, but I am a little disappointed by them. The description says a creamy peanut butter filling, but the filling is not creamy at all, and instead it’s dry. Looking at the ingredients I just don’t understand why they need to add artificial colors….Yellow 5 Lake, Yellow 6 Lake, Blue 2 Lake, and Red 40 Lake. Chocolate should naturally be dark brown and peanut butter should naturally be a lighter brown, which these buckeyes are, but why are artificial colors needed to achieve that? The taste is nothing to write home about, maybe it’s the artificial colors. The box also displays a stamp to let you know it’s Bioengineered food, which normally I don’t care that much about, but why does chocolate and peanut butter need to be bioengineered? These buckeyes are definitely not worth the price they’re asking. I just don’t think Malley’s is the chocolatier that they used to be, which is sad.
